Was the Godfather better off by helping others?

Std
by Driven Organization

We all know how well the Godfather did. And he did it all by asking for only one thing in return when he helped someone. Do you remember these words?

“Some day, and that day may never come, I'll call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day -- accept this justice as a gift on my daughter's wedding day.” He told these words to Bonasera who was asking for revenge for his daughter who had been abused.

The Godfather advanced himself trading favors that, at the end, benefited him over the long run. But would you believe me that, even without the small favors, helping others actually brings benefit to you? Let me be clearer. You help others and even when you receive nothing in return you still derive a significant benefit for you. Do you believe it?

It sounds crazy, right? I cannot tell you if this is Karma as I am not sure I understand Karma, but I can tell you that this is true, or so the experts have concluded from their studies. They have statistically found that those who help others are actually happier and even healthier. One new study has proven that helping others increases your immune system and makes you stronger. You can read the findings of the researchers here.

I guess my Grandma was right. Help others, she used to say. We
completely agree. This is the reason why one of the pillars of SPACES, our framework for the happiest and most productive workers, is Purpose. The work you perform each day has an impact on the welfare of others, and if the impact is positive, we are working with Purpose. When that happens, we are happier, more engaged, more productive, and even healthier. We explain it all in our book, soon to be launched.
